Photography has recently became your passion and you want to buy a camera and further it? Don’t forget that all beginnings are hard but you can’t win without effort. Bastirgelsin.com presents the most common mistakes the beginner photographers make. Read and learn!

Equipment is not everything. Don’t forget that professional equipment doesn’t make you a professional photographer. It is wrong to think that good and expensive equipment alone makes you take good photos. An experienced photographer can take photos with her phone better than a camera. So you need to know the types of camera you’ll choose from and features of the equipment. Think about how you’ll use the equipment and decide accordingly.

Photography is freedom of mind.

We have no objection to being inspired from, but never copy others’ ideas! Adjustments you make on your photos are important for analysis and result. Likewise it’s important going to photography exhibits, taking classes from famous photographers, reading books and magazines, taking advise from professionals and more… Listen to yourself and don’t be afraid of experiencing things that’ll perfect you.

Don’t use flash bulb

Amateur photographers generally like to use flash bulbs. But we need to emphasize that it’s a thing professional photographer never do. Steady flash makes a photo look excessive and flat. Because of that; if you’re really into photography and want to advance your skills, try to use reflector or other accesories to help emphasize the light. But if you don’t want to give up using flash bulb, try lowering its power to make light look more natural.

Create a composition in photos. Always have and idea for your photo and its composition. Golden rule is to have 4 point of interest to focus our eyes. Don’t shoot photos in dim light or under full sun light. Nice weather can misdirect us, it looks like a great time to go out and take some photos. Naturally, you need to take advantage of light sources and gain some experience. In this kind of weather, use the shaded setting where can provide you with soft and elastic light. You may detect another shadow. Don’t put your hand over the lense. It’s a common mistake.

No more automatic mode!

Automatic mode is created for amateurs. As we have mentioned before, it’s easy to know your camera, read the instructions and use its functions. Additionally, try to use the RAW format which is easier to process digitally.

Photo editors aren’t everything! When it comes to digital image editing, the photo editors are a great tool to beautify your photo. Of course they exist to make life easier for photographers but you should never forget the framing discipline. To reduce the amount of parasites to a minimum on a photo editor, create technically adequate photos. Learn tools to control brightness, contrast and saturation, and don’t be afraid to work! :)

Black & White photos

It’s usually easier to take black & white photos. However, if you wish to learn more and improve your skills, don’t give up on colours. Especially in photos where colours play the main role, for example fall leaves or a rainbow. :)

Pay attention to constructive criticism

Don’t forget that noone can become a professional instantly. All beginnings are difficult but you learn new things everyday. Especially, take criticism from professional photographers. And above all: do you compare yourself to professional photographers? It can cause needless disappointment and you don’t want to give up so soon, do you?
